Neural stimulation of release of renin.

چکیده
Increased vasomotor discharge induced by bleeding caused renal release of renin in anesthetized dogs whether or not there was measurable change in either arterial pressure or total renal blood flow. Release of renin was prevented by ganglion blockade or local anesthesia of the renal nerves. Hemorrhage-induced release of renin occurred more consistently in dogs fed a low-sodium diet than in those fed a standard kennel diet. Stimulation of sympathetic vasomotor discharge by occlusion of the common carotid arteries, while renal perfusion pressure was kept constant, also caused release of renin, as did infusions of norepinephrine, tyramine, or DMPP. Isoproterenol, angiotensin, vasopressin, serotonin, or acetylcholine infused into the renal artery did not cause release of renin. It is concluded that neural stimuli are capable of causing release of renin in the absence of gross change in renal perfusion pressure or flow. ADDITIONAL

Proceedings: Specificity of blockade of renal renin release by propranolol in the cat.
1. The anaesthetized cat, unilaterally nephrectomized and with renal nerves sectioned, has been used in a study of the specificity of the inhibitory effect of propranolol on renin release. 2. The effect of (+)-propranolol on the rise in plasma renin activity (PRA) induced by renal nerve stimulation has been examined. When administered at approximately the same dose as the racemic mixture which ...
متن کاملThe role of calcium in the control of renin release.
The effects of removing external calcium and inhibiting entry of calcium into the cell by treatment with D-600 on renin release from renal cortical slices of male Sprague-Dawley rats were examined. Baseline renin release, angiotensin II (AII)-induced inhibition, and isoproterenol-induced stimulation of renin release were studied. Removal of external calcium by chelation with 5 mM EGTA inhibited...
متن کاملProstaglandin-related renin release from rabbit renal cortical slices.
The possibility that 6-keto-prostaglandin E1 (6-keto-PGE1) affects renin release was studied using rabbit renal cortical slices, a preparation that eliminates hemodynamic, neural, and blood-borne factors that might influence renin release. The medium used for incubating the slices was collected for renin assay at the end of each of four successive 20-minute periods. Test agents were added only ...
متن کاملRelease of active and inactive renin by the porcine kidney.
We studied the relative rates of release of active and inactive renin by the kidney in anesthetized pigs. Renin concentration was determined in arterial and renal venous plasma as follows: (1) before and after stimulation of renin release with isoproterenol or furosemide, (2) after suppression of renin release by extracellular fluid volume expansion, and (3) after administration of propranolol ...
متن کاملRenin release by rat kidney slices incubated in vitro. Role of sodium and of alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors, and effect of vincristine.
The role of sodium concentration, of alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors, and of a microtubular inhibtor (vincristine) on renin release was studied in rat kidney slices in vitro. Renin release was an active, linear, and temperature-dependent process. Kidneys from young rats released much more renin than those from adults. Lowering sodium concentration inhibited renin release by one-half, even ...
